In 1995, it is this road that newly founded Granit Polus chose when, under Sándor Demján’s leadership, it developed Hungary’s first Class “A” office building, the Bank Centre Budapest. The unprecedented breakthrough was followed by yet another pioneer step with the delivery of the region’s first Western-style shopping centre – Polus Center Budapest.
Granit Polus Group, now encompassing a fully integrated real estate development and management business, was established almost 20 years ago. In the last two decades, the company has established a reputation for delivering major, highly successful retail, office and residential projects across seven countries.
Mr. Sándor Demján, founder and chairman of Granit Polus Group was an exceptional entrepreneur and business magnate. In 1976 he introduced the department store called Skála, the first Western European style shopping mall to the Hungarian market.

Granit-Polus Group is operating and managing financial activity of more than 50 legal entities in 9 different countries. The core financial functions including accounting, cash-flow management and controlling are managed centrally in order to efficiently control the financial position of all companies belonging to the Group.
The Group is using an integrated management information system across its portfolio in order to standardize the property management and financial functions. The system was originally developed by Microsoft, but our Group has the license to implement further developments to more efficiently manage any kind of request within the organization.

Granit Polus has an in-house legal department, consisting of four full time lawyers admitted to the Budapest Bar Association, plus a junior lawyer and a legal assistant. The legal department provides a comprehensive service for the group, including corporate, employment, M&A, banking & finance, compliance, permitting and most importantly, real estate. According to the policies of the group, all transactions concluded by any entity within Granit Polus require a written contract approved by finance and legal department, and most of the documents are prepared in-house.
In addition to the lawyers engaged in the head office, all projects have dedicated lawyers, supervised from the headquarters and external lawyers are also frequently engaged for specific transactions, also working under instructions of the legal department.
The in-house lawyers participate in project and departmental meetings and assist the group in establishing guidelines for corporate governance and internal policies and procedures and supervise implementation thereof. They also assist in corporate liaisons with shareholders and directors, prepare resolutions and minutes of their meetings.
